In 2022, Chapter 2 Events, one of India’s foremost luxury wedding planning firms, took a strategic leap by setting up a satellite base in Portugal in collaboration with Martinhal Family Hotels & Resorts. Based in Delhi, the brand is known for curating larger-than-life Indian destination weddings in countries like Switzerland, Azerbaijan, Turkey, Serbia, Oman, and the UAE.
Europe was the natural choice for expansion, catering to a large overseas Indian community spread across the UK, Middle East, Canada, and the US, while also attracting an increasing number of non-Indian clients. A physical presence in Portugal has since opened up diverse opportunities across the European continent—not just for family celebrations but also for strategic industry partnerships.
For the Big Fat Indian Wedding market, Portugal remains a largely untapped gem. With its mix of stunning landscapes, rich architecture, wine regions, coastal charm, vibrant culture, exceptional cuisine, lively entertainment, and excellent connectivity, the country is perfectly poised to host unforgettable celebrations.

Since its inception in 2013, Chapter 2 Events (C2E) has been curating world-class, bespoke celebrations and milestone events across the globe. Founded with a vision to make celebrations more experiential and personal, C2E has, in just 11 years, delivered industry firsts and award-winning projects—such as the grand Indian wedding takeover of Baku’s top two luxury properties in 2018, the debut transcontinental Indo-Serbian wedding spanning Serbia, Turkey, and India in 2020, and Porto’s first major Indian wedding in 2022.
The pandemic became a turning point, giving the team an opportunity to reassess, restructure, and adapt to the #NewNormal. This period of reflection sparked new possibilities—expanding our geographical reach, diversifying our offerings, and seeking out undiscovered destinations for our clients. “We used this time to re-strategize and explore authentic, unclichéd experiences for our guests. The idea to set up a base in Europe was born from these travels, driven by increasing demand from our clientele. With strategic partners like VisitPortugal and Martinhal supporting us, we’re thrilled to bring larger-than-life celebrations to Europe,” says founder Kunal Laungani.
In 2021, C2E opened its European chapter, kicking things off with a spectacular Indo-Lebanese wedding in Girona, Spain. Since then, we’ve delivered multi-cultural weddings in Portugal, Spain, and Italy—each weaving together local charm with global traditions.
One standout was Divya & Amit’s tri-cultural extravaganza in Porto. Chosen for its rich culture, heritage, and the couple’s shared love for Port wines, Porto became the stage for the city’s first large-scale Indian–international wedding. The celebration took nearly 10 months of meticulous planning and brought together Indian traditions, Portuguese flair, and Jewish rituals (honouring the groom’s Israeli heritage).
Working alongside local partners and stakeholders, we created an immersive experience where every detail told a story—from Indo-European culinary fusions to entertainment that blended cultures in a grand spectacle. The result was a wedding that celebrated not just two people, but three vibrant traditions, all against the backdrop of one of Europe’s most enchanting cities.
